Patrick: ‘I’m happier and less tired than before’

Patrick (26), from the UK, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2025. In the months leading up to his diagnosis, he experienced frequent blood in his stool, something that increasingly worried him. He was particularly concerned because he was also struggling with fatigue.

Immediately interested

‘After my diagnosis, I was prescribed adalimumab. Unfortunately, the medication didn’t work for me. When I was given the opportunity to participate in OmiCrohn, I was immediately interested. I work in research myself and find artificial intelligence fascinating. I was really curious about how the whole process would work. First, I had an endoscopy, and provided stool samples. And I had my blood tested.’

Patrick was prescribed ustekinumab, starting with an intravenous infusion followed by an injection every eight weeks.

Significant improvement

‘After three months, I already noticed a significant improvement. There is much less blood in my stool, and I’m less tired. Hopefully, that will continue. Another thing I’ve noticed is that I’m much happier. It also helps to know that both my doctor and the researchers are monitoring me closely. I would wholeheartedly recommend taking part in OmiCrohn if you get the opportunity.’
