Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (UniSR) is one of the top-ranking universities in Italy for research and teaching, with 225 tenured teaching staff and more than 5.700 registered students in undergraduate courses, Masters, PhD programmes and post-graduate Medical Education courses. It also offers simulation lab, live streaming sessions for surgery, and practical activities for students. The University is currently involved in several student exchange programs with many countries across the world, and is involved in the Erasmus+ program.
UniSR is affiliated to the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele (OSR), part of the largest private hospital group in Italy. UniSR-OSR campus is the main Italian Research Institute in terms of volume and quality of scientific output, with a calling for translational research. The scientific research of San Raffaele aims at advancing the knowledge about human diseases and novel therapies through translational research, especially in neurosciences, metabolic disorders, immunology and oncology.
Researchers at UniSR are supported by several high-throughput core facilities offering state of the art technical platforms and services, such as Microscopy and Bio-Imaging Center, Center For Omics Sciences, Flow Citometry Facility and SPF Animal Facility.
Role in METHYLOMIC project
The IBD team at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University contributed to the development of the clinical study of the Methylomic project. They also will be involved as national coordinators of the clinical trial in Italy. The institution will also lead the dissemination and communication activities together with the European Federation of Crohn’s Colitis Associations (EFCCA).
